Exposure Shootouts

"Future Stars is one of the best exposure opportunities in the Midwest for the money. We take our players all over the country to compete and be seen and we are fortunate to have Future Stars right here in the Midwest."
Hank Huddleson | Coach of the Martin Brothers

Future Stars Hoops
Future Stars conducts the Midwest's largest basketball talent showcase events for boys and girls basketball players grades 7-12. We bring the Midwest's brightest rising stars together to be evaluated by our staff of current and past college coaches and talent scouts.
Individuals may register for events online, by phone or through the mail and attend the event to be evaluated for recruitability to the college level by our staff and ultimately by our Director of Scouting Van Coleman of Hoopmasters. Team or partial team registration may be made by contacting Mark McLaughlin or Damon Vogt through the contact us section on this sight.
The Set-Up
After registering players are organized by size, grade and position to create competitively balanced teams with a maximum of 11 players per team.
Each team will play 5 games over two days, while single-day registrants will play 3 games in one day.
Each player will be evaluated by a different evaluator every game and at least once by Coleman.
Players are evaluated by a minimum of one on court evaluator whose job it is to evaluate you on a number of very important areas measuring offensive skills. These include but are not limited to --- shooting, ballhandling, quickness to the basket, decision-making, and creativity in producing opportunities for yourself and other players. Defensive areas measured include footwork, physicality, one on one defense, rebounding, and understanding of team defensive concepts.

The Post-Event Report
Each player receives a user-name and password upon check-out of the event. This code is used to access your individual evaluation which is available on-line 6-8 weeks after the event.
Future Stars provides feedback to you and your parents using a very comprehensive online evaluation form. The form breaks down your individual and team skills and the intangibles that go into being a successful athlete and player within the team concept.
The online evaluation diagnosis areas that need improvement and encourages you to build on your strengths. It should be noted that you are the intended recipient of this evaluation. It is direct feedback to you and is intended to be an honest assessment of how you play, your grasp of the position you play, and how you integrate with others on the floor.
Many players use the post-event report to build their workout plans and to go directly to work on areas that we diagnose as needing work. Please refer to Van Coleman's Camp Workout Book and various other educational components on this sight.
Many players also use their event to share with their high school coaches, and to use as part of recruiting portfolios and assessments that can be passed on by the player to college coaches who may be recruiting them.
Assessing Recruit-Ability
Van Coleman, founder of Future Stars and president of Hoopmasters.com recruiting service evaluates each player for the purpose of recruitability to the college level.
If you can play college basketball, Van will identify your prospective level and include you on the web page and in his monthly national scouting service to more than 500 college coaches nationwide.
Attendance of College Coaches
College coaches from the NCAA Division II level and below personally attend the showcases to identify prospects, check on their growth from event to event and year to year. Many coaches use these events as a primary source of initial prospect identification, and then contact us for our impressions on you. It is our duty to actively promote Future Stars attendees.
How Many Events Should You Attend?
It is recommended that you attend a minimum of one shootout in the fall and one in the spring. Players working to enhance their "recognition" in more than one region should attend events in multiple states both spring and fall.
Who Should Attend?
Based on the number of attendees players are split into grades 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 Divisions. Players, if requesting such, may play up a maximum of one level
